    [Bzzzt] Data Correction in Process

There are one or two old posts floating around the social media world about Nuke-Con’s annual convention. While we love the engagement, we need to make a correction:

Nuke-Con 2023 is happening at the Mid-America Center, Council Bluffs, IA on September 22, 23, and 24.

Bring your dice, your meeples, your terrain . . . and your friends!  You can purchase your badges, and if you want to run a game (yes, please!) submit events to run on our website.

  • Call for Games at the Return of the Weekend of Games

At our new location, the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, we’ve got room for all kinds of games from Apples to Apples all the way through Warhammer (and beyond, if you can think of any). Game registration is open now. All slots are currently available.

    We

    Need

    You!

BONUS! We’ll have our Discord channel active over the weekend, too, so if you need a virtual tabletop, we’ve got you covered!

    Don’t forget: September 24, 25, and 26, 2021. $30 for full weekend preregistration through September 1st 10pm.

We are looking forward to seeing you!

  • Getting Together with Discord

    Getting Together with Discord

Welcome to Nuke-COnline, our 30th annual convention! You probably know we’ve moved to a virtual event this year, and Discord is the third-party application that we’ll be using for our text, voice, and video interface.

For you to have access to the Nuke-Con Discord convention space, you need to buy your badge and then connect your Nuke-Con account to your Discord account. You can find the Connect button in your Nuke-Con profile page. That will give you access to the guests, vendors, and more! Grab your badge here.

The one thing you won’t have right away is access to the virtual tables. That will be unlocked for you for the events you have signed up for. Our mascot and friendly bot, Max Damage, will grant your access to the table shortly before the event starts. Remember! The currently running game might not quite be over. Please be respectful of the GM and the players until they have wrapped up.

We recommend downloading Discord for your computer or device before Nuke-Con weekend to get comfortable with it. Never used Discord before? They have a great help site that includes how to get started. They also have references for key combos for Windows and macOS.

We also recommend that you use a headset. It will help cut down on echo for everyone at your virtual table. You don’t need anything fancy or expensive, but you want it to be comfortable if you plan on wearing it for multiple gaming sessions. Discord is also testing out noise suppression via Krisp, which can also improve everyone’s experience during play. If you have the option, we recommend turning it on.

We know there will be questions. Please feel free to reach out to the staff via discord@nuke-con.com.

  • 2020 Convention Update

    Good evening, Fellow Gamers.

I have to announce today that Nuke-Con has decided not to hold a face-to-face convention in October 2020.

We also decided that we can’t let our 30th Annual Convention disappear with just a whimper, so we’re shifting gears to an online convention. It’ll be the same weekend you’ve been planning for: October 2, 3, and 4, 2020. We’re still working out details, but in the meantime we invite all GMs to talk with us about how to shift your game to one of the many available online platforms.

You can reach Erik Luken, Game Registration, at gmreg@nuke-con.com.
You can reach Josh Stortz for membership questions at reg@nuke-con.com.
You can reach Speedy Coveny to talk about pre-paid booths at vendors@nuke-con.com.
You can reach me for general questions and comments at main@nuke-con.com.
You can also send a message to us via our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/nukecon/.

We’ll post updates as we finalize details.

Like you, we’ve been hoping for the best but planning for the worst. The staff talked about better spacing around tables, limiting the number of people at a given table, masks, and disinfectant. We discussed the financial impact to the organization, how much we’ll miss seeing our friends, and what the Nuke-Con community might think of us whichever decision we made. In the end, we decided that we can’t, in good conscience, open an arena for possible – maybe even likely – transmission of disease.

    Thank you all for understanding.

    Calling all Game Masters!

You’ve got a game you’ve been dying to share and you’ve been looking for someone to share it with. Look no further! Nuke-Con’s Fallout Shelter is open for business!

Pick your day and time, describe your game, tell us how many players you want at your table, and we’ll do the rest. Remember that if you get your game in before September 6, 2019, it’ll appear in the program book.

Don’t delay! We’ve lost a little game space this year, so we expect the room to fill up completely. The sooner you get your game into the schedule, the better your chances of getting exactly the slot you want. Click here to enter the Fallout Shelter. And thank you for sharing your favorite game!
