    Featured Games: Battletech

    Big, bad, and boomy miniatures! Learn how to play in the Battletech Boot Camp on Friday at 4 pm or Saturday at 9 am, then get your licks in during the Grinder that starts Saturday at 10 am. The Grinder is a DROP-INS WELCOME game, so stay as long as you like or come back later for another shot!

    Meet the Vendors: Captain Wells Studio

    Captain Wells is an artistic collaboration of Heather Alston and Aaron Shirley.  Heather and Aaron both studied Art at Peru State College and have continued their artistic pursuits together, setting up to display art at shows and conventions across the Midwest. Their studio includes original art along with prints, stickers, sketch cards, wood journals, and crochet critters, along with other artistic pursuits from their families.

    Both artists also take commissions if you are looking for something unique!

    While there will be a few available for purchase during the convention, your best bet (and to make sure you can get your size) is to pre-order your shirts now!

    Meet the Vendors: Laser Bear Industries

    Laser Bear Industries is a 3D Printing, 3D Design, Electronics Engineering, and specialty Laser Marking company based in Omaha Nebraska. We specialize in making custom solutions for gaming in many forms from tabletop, to card, and video gaming.

    We are a “for gamers by gamers” company that sticks true to our desire to make things that we want to use in our own gaming sessions. We were founded in 2019, and come from a background of 3D modeling, 3D printing, and electronics design going back more than a decade.

    You can find fantastic dice towers, fancy dice storage, custom deck boxes, fidget toys, and much more at our booth. We also take custom orders and are able to print on demand for anything from minis to cosplay pieces if you provide a valid printable file for the project.

    Be sure to stop by during the con and peruse the Laser Bear’s goods!

  • Special Guest: Game Designer Tim Ferry

    Special Guest: Game Designer Tim Ferry

    Tim is a born and raised Iowa native. He began his creative journey at age 4 composing piano music; his interest in game development began while he was in college. His first published game was spawned from an abandoned D&D homebrew campaign which eventually became the naval strategy game Old Salt.

    After successfully Kickstarting a campaign to manufacture and fulfill Old Salt, Tim developed a program called Little Creators Club which teaches elementary kids how to design their own games. Little Creators partners with elementary schools with the goal of helping kids take a step away from consumerism toward being lifelong creators, makers, and designers. We’ve also offered Little Creators at a few breweries in the Des Moines Metro for families and friends to design board games as a fun, creative activity.

    What’s new and on the horizon? Aside from Little Creators Club programming and Old Salt, Tim is working on a variety of projects, but the two he is most excited about are a workout gamification program designed for gamers and a kids book building program for NICU parents. Practicing what he preaches, he is in pursuit of lifelong creativity!

    Nuke-Con is getting ready for another great year. Here is a friendly reminder that pre-registration is available now!

    Badges are available for $45 for the whole weekend or you can get daily tickets for Friday and Saturday. Badges for kids accompanied by an adult are $6.

    Buying a badge? Why not buy a shirt! Want to buy a shirt? Buy a badge! We want you to be the coolest in the room.

    These pre-registration prices will be in effect until September 8th at 11pm. After that you can buy badges at the door.

    Announcement Time!

    As we are approaching our time together October 4th-6th, it’s time to be gathering your bags of holding and check out our Hotel Block this year!

    We are again partnering with the Country Inn & Suites by Radisson Council Bluffs, IA. Consider staying nearby for more time to rest your head or for a much easier commute. You can use our group name: Nuke-Con or the booking number SH78M1 for the group rates ($129 per night) to save some extra gold for your future adventures at the convention. But be wary, Adventurers, you only have until September 4th to make your decision to stay with us before all the rooms get booked!
