Hello our lovely Gamers! Nuke-Con is partnering again with Extra Life for our charity raffle with the proceeds from all the Extra Life events going to Children’s Nebraska Foundation!
A reminder of how the raffle works: $1 gets you one ticket; $5 will get you 6 tickets at the Extra Life booth. On the table at Extra Life there will be bundles of goodies to choose from. Put your ticket in the corresponding bucket, then at the con on Sunday, October 4, at noon, the winners will be drawn. Unless you’ve made other arrangements with the folks at the Extra Life booth, we ask that all winners grab their goodies by 6pm.
We are looking to bring in new topics that might interest gamers of all types by providing a space that will let folks showcase their nerdoms.
We have a some people who’ve expressed an interest in panels, but we’d really like to have a Panel Coordinator – a point of contact for all things panel-related and keeping communication open between the con and individuals interested in running panels. Additionally, you’d be responsible for keeping track of what panels are running when, where, and how long. BONUS: This position comes with its own metaphorical hat!
Many of you know me as a Nuke-Con Board member. Some of you may recognize me as a familiar face at the Con. Some of you may have seen me as an occasional special guest at the Con. Some of you may have heard of me as that staffer guy who talks too much. Some of you also know me as an RPG writer and designer. Some of you may have even joined me in one of my yearly special events.
Well, this year, some of you will come to know me as that guy who hosted the first ever Nuke-Con Heroscape Tournament!
That’s right! The battle for ALL TIME is coming to Nuke-Con!
Starting at noon on Saturday, October 3rd, you’ll have the opportunity to assemble your best army and battle it out with other generals and their best armies for both prestige and prizes during your favorite weekend of games!
While more details will be coming soon, I encourage you to sign up now as seating is limited. So head over to the following website to sign up and look over the army building requirements: https://heroscape.org/events/tournaments/1027/
Note: While there’s no charge for those who have a Nuke-Con badge, there’s a $10 entry fee for those who just want to attend the Heroscape Tournament. You can get your event badge at the front desk beforehand.
Also note that those who plan to bring/build a board can head into the room at 10:00am to set up.
With Nuke-Con less than 3 months away we want to remind you that you should buy your badge! You can buy a whole weekend badge for $45 and kids 12 and under (with a paid adult) are $6.
As Staffer Steve has so wisely said “Get your badge now while its fresh on the brain. Not next week, not the day before the con starts, but right now!”. Preregistration ends at end of day August 28, 2026.
And while you are getting your badges taken care of, have a one stop shop and get your hotel taken care of as well. We invite you to come stay close by staying at Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, IA
Thank you everyone made suggestions for our new Mascots’ names. Please welcome Haz Max, Raddius and Trinity to the Nuke-Con family!
Haz Max
Euro-type board games is Haz Max’s regular pleasure, but he really shines in the abstract game category. You would not believe the thinking power in that headblock.
Raddius
Raddius is a fan of wargame minis. He finds his sword most useful in reaching across the long tables to move the pieces.
Trinity
A-a-a-nd Action! LARPs, boffos, comedy improv, costumes — those are the things Trinity loves best. Anything to keep moving!
Our new generation mascots are ready to carry the Nuke-Con story onward!
What do you think they are doing this summer? Does Haz Max look like a captain to you? Is Raddius cool enough to fill the Prize Vault with new goodies for you to spend your rads on? Trinity wants to try her hand at everything!
What stories do you think they would tell?
We invite our creative Nuke-Con community to imagine backstories or artwork for the trio. We’d love to see what you’ve got! Send your thoughts to mascots@nuke-con.com
The year is wrapping up and so is our early bird pricing. You have until end of day December 31st to get your badges for Nuke-Con 2026 October 2nd-4th at the Mid America Center. If you have already gotten your badge but you know someone who would love to come along, buy them a badge, too! You both can have a fun-filled weekend of gaming, adventures and stories galore! With your continued support we are looking forward to seeing you all again soon.
Extra life was a success! With everyone’s efforts Extra Life raised a total over the weekend of $1,387 dollars! Thank you for everyone who played games, bought raffle tickets (and donated raffle prizes!) and contributed at the Extra Life booth. All these helped us raise so much for the Extra Life!
Nuke-Con 2025 has come and gone in the blink of an eye. We had an incredible weekend with many good times! The sounds of dice and laughter were a delight amidst the murmur of everyone being lost to the many worlds laid before them. Thank you to the Ghostbusters for keeping the Mid America Center and all of us and safe from ghosts and ghouls. Thank you to everyone who came out in cosplay! To all who participated in our panels and to everyone who enjoyed them. To our vendors, To Fredd, Shay, and Chris for coming and sharing our space. Most of all, thank you! To the gamers, who are the reason Nuke-Con exists. From all of the staff and our volunteers we couldn’t have Nuke-Con without you.
