  • Nuke-Con Covid-19 Update

    Nuke-Con Covid-19 Update

Nuke-Con will not require attendees to wear masks this year. We still encourage you to wear your mask as Covid-19 is still present in our community. GMs may make their own decisions on requiring masks at their games.

We also remind you that if you don’t feel well on Nuke-Con weekend, please stay home. That’s essential to prevent the spread of Covid-19, but applies to flu, colds, and general con crud, too. We can arrange to roll your membership over to the next year.

We ask that you show understanding and patience as we all gather for our 32nd weekend of games.

  • ICYMI – News and Deadlines

It’s a busy week for the staff.

Nuke-Con Block at Country Inn & Suites

Are you coming into town for the event or just want to make it easy to crash after a day of gaming? We have a Nuke-Con rate ($89.00 before taxes and fees) that is available through 09/05/2022. You can book by calling (712) 322-8282 or 1 (800) 333-3333.

Last Call for Events for the Con Book

You have until the 09/02/2022 at 6:00pm to get your event submitted for the convention book. Getting into the program book means you qualify for the badge reimbursement. Information about reimbursement, additional info, and other rules GMs must follow can be found here.

    Get Your Nuke-Con 2022 Shirt!

First, if you haven’t seen it yet, check it out.

If you already bought your badge, you can still buy a shirt separately. Or grab a shirt while you’re buying a badge! The catch – there is a deadline! You must order your shirt by 09/01/2022 6:00pm.

    Masks and COVID-19

You’ll still have to wait until 09/02/2022 for our official decision on the updates to our mask policy. Regardless of the policy, we are selling an updated mask this year.

    Cthulhu Mask

If we get enough orders by 09/09/2022, we’ll place the order. Get yours now.

    Pre-registrations

We are moving out the pre-registration deadline to 09/09/2022 at 6:00pm. That gives everyone a little extra time to look at the schedule and decide what to play. Which you definitely should be doing!

First: the skills you learn while volunteering can translate directly into your resume.

Item: I negotiated pricing and terms with a national corporation. (You worked on the contract with our venue and hotel partners.)

Item: I led a team of 4 people on a marketing blitz that provided 10% of our operating budget. (You planned the schedule and led the folks who met with our dealers several times a month leading up to the convention. Bonus points if the dealers agreed to come to Nuke-Con again the next year.)

Item: I was responsible for the acquisition, inventory, and distribution of achievement awards for more than 100 people. (You were in charge of Nuke-Con’s Prize Vault).

Item: I planned and executed a social media marketing campaign that increased attendance by 25% in the first year. (You wrote and posted Nuke-Con items in various social media outlets.)

Second: the cost of your badge may be fully reimbursed to you, depending on how much time you spend on convention activities.

Third: the convention cannot run without its volunteers. You can be part of the team that carries Nuke-Con into the next 10 years.

If you’re interested in joining the staff, contact volunteers@nuke-con.com.

  • Getting Together with Discord

    Getting Together with Discord

Welcome to Nuke-COnline, our 30th annual convention! You probably know we’ve moved to a virtual event this year, and Discord is the third-party application that we’ll be using for our text, voice, and video interface.

For you to have access to the Nuke-Con Discord convention space, you need to buy your badge and then connect your Nuke-Con account to your Discord account. You can find the Connect button in your Nuke-Con profile page. That will give you access to the guests, vendors, and more! Grab your badge here.

The one thing you won’t have right away is access to the virtual tables. That will be unlocked for you for the events you have signed up for. Our mascot and friendly bot, Max Damage, will grant your access to the table shortly before the event starts. Remember! The currently running game might not quite be over. Please be respectful of the GM and the players until they have wrapped up.

We recommend downloading Discord for your computer or device before Nuke-Con weekend to get comfortable with it. Never used Discord before? They have a great help site that includes how to get started. They also have references for key combos for Windows and macOS.

We also recommend that you use a headset. It will help cut down on echo for everyone at your virtual table. You don’t need anything fancy or expensive, but you want it to be comfortable if you plan on wearing it for multiple gaming sessions. Discord is also testing out noise suppression via Krisp, which can also improve everyone’s experience during play. If you have the option, we recommend turning it on.

We know there will be questions. Please feel free to reach out to the staff via discord@nuke-con.com.
