    Some of you may have attended Nuke-Con’s “Dead Games Day” event at Holy Cross Lutheran Church last weekend. Well, why not come back to Holy Cross for more gaming fun this Saturday?

    And as for those of you who missed out on last week’s game day (like myself), well then this is your 2nd chance to get in on some gaming fun!

    On Saturday, November 9th, starting at 1:00pm, Holy Cross Lutheran Church is hosting their own game day event! I’ll be there, and you’re all invited as well!

    And the best part, its a free event!

    “Join the Holy Cross family for a day of board game fun! Bring your favorite board games and some snacks & drinks & goodies to share for a fun afternoon.”

    The gaming fun starts at 1:00, and runs at a casual place that usually ends around dinner time.

    Nuke Con 2024 may be dead and buried, but the games are rising to be played again!

    Every gamer has at least one of those games they used to love to play and most likely still love to play, but they’ve been sitting, dusty and neglected, for far too long.

    Most people also have at least one “extinct game”. What we mean by this is that everyone has at least one game that’s no longer in print, but is still just as much fun to play today as it was the day it rolled out of the factory.

    And in some cases, people have at least one dead game that’s been sitting on their shelves lonely and forgotten.

    Well guess what? Its time to dust off and resurrect those long-neglected dead games, because the “Dead Games” event is coming!

    Aftershock: Dead Games!

    • Who: All you gamers, of course! Alive preferred (whereas the games can be alive or dead).
    • What: Resurrecting all those venerable but dusty and neglected games you’d like to play again, and/or show others why you love that game so much!
    • When: November 2nd, 2024.
    • Where: Holy Cross Lutheran Church [Click here for the address]
    • Why: Reuse, repurpose, recycle . . . and have a good time in the process.
    • How much: No charge! Bring some cash, though, for the Sale of the Dead Games!

    This is a fundraiser for the annual Nuke-Con convention. So empty out your coff – er, closet and help out your favorite convention at the same time.

    Remember: The Dead Games will live again on November 2, 2024. Bring your living friends (and their dead games) along as well!

    Staffer Steve here,

    I’ve noticed a trend at every Nuke-Con where there’s always a few people who’ve forgotten the rules for the game (or games) they’re hosting / running / demoing / playing / etc. at the con. Sometimes it’s a game they’ve played many times before, but it’s been a while and so they’re scrambling as they try to shoot through the rule book two minutes before game time as they’ve forgotten some or most of the rules.

    Its okay, it happens. I’m not any throwing in this glass house, for I did it once (or maybe twice) myself.

    So this is my friendly “a few days before the con” reminder to spend a few minutes refreshing yourself with the rules of the games you plan to run. Even if you’re certain that you know the game inside and out, a confidence refresher never hurt anyone.

    P.S. While you’re at it, it would also be a good time to look over the game contents and make sure you’ve got all the pieces. Sometimes pieces get moved around between games. Sometimes a core game piece gets put in an expansion box by mistake (this has happened to me before). In some cases, children just get curious and tool around your games when you’re not looking.

    Stuff just happens sometimes so it’s a good habit to check your games ahead of time.

    Q&A: How Scheduling works at a Tremor Event

    Greetings and Salutations!
    Staffer Steve here, and I just got a question in the mailbox. After climbing up from the bunker to get the mail and retreating back inside, I thought that it was worth answering via social media so that all interested persons can be in the know.

    The Question: Can I reserve a seat for a Scheduled Tremor Game Event online, or even ahead of time?

    The Answer: Unfortunately, no. Due to the nature of this type of game day event, getting a seat at any and all scheduled Tremor events are on a “first come, first served” basis.

    The best way to ensure that you get a seat in the desired game is to arrive early enough to sign your name on the scheduled game form (seats are limited, and the event is full when all spaces have been filled in). Then you’ll know you have a seat at the table for your game.

    We’re trying something new at the May Aftershock by hosting a sale of “gently used” board games and RPG books. So, if you have such items that you’d like to donate, bring them with you to the May Aftershock, and we’ll take care of the rest!

    On the other hand, for those of you looking to buy board games or RPG books at reasonable prices, then the May Aftershock is also for you!

    It’s a win for everyone as the donators will get back some storage space, the game collectors will get games at good prices and all proceeds will help Nuke-Con fund future events!

    So stop by the registration desk to drop off your donations and/or purchase donated items at the Nuke-Con Quick Sale Table. It’s as simple as that!

    Wait… do you feel that?

    I haven’t felt one of these in over two years!

    THE AFTERSHOCKS HAVE RETURNED!

    For those you new to the sensation of an Aftershock, allow me to explain…

    Periodically, Nuke-Con arranges for one-day special game events, known as “Aftershocks”, which are held at locations around the Omaha area.

    They have returned… and our first Aftershock in over two years is taking place at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church!

    We will need GM’s! We will need game hosts! And we will need gamers… so many gamers!

    We will have board games! and tabletop RPGs! and miniatures!  Bring your friends!  Everybody is welcome!  We must all Escape Reality, one game at a time!

    The Aftershock happens May 27th, 2023 at 10AM and goes to 10PM, for twelve hours worth of Escaping Reality.

    Get your tickets at the door for $5 per person for the entire day (or take $1.00 off with a donation of two cans of food for the church’s food pantry)!

    UPDATE: I just received word that Nuke-Con artist extraordinaire Fredd Gorham will be hosting an Artist Jam at the Aftershock, so we’re calling all artists to the event!
