Free Aftershock: Dead Games Day!
Every gamer has at least one of those games they used to love to play and most likely still love to play, but they’ve been sitting on the shelf, dusty and neglected, for far too long.
Most people also have at least one “extinct game”. What we mean by this is that everyone has at least one game that’s no longer in print, but is still just as much fun to play today as it was the day it rolled out of the factory.
And in some cases, people have at least one dead game that’s been sitting on their shelves lonely and forgotten.
Well guess what? Its time to dust off and resurrect those long-neglected dead games, because the “Dead Games” event is coming!
Aftershock: Dead Games!
- Who: All you gamers, of course! Alive preferred (whereas the games can be alive or dead).
- What: Resurrecting all those venerable but dusty and neglected games you’d like to play again, and/or show others why you love that game so much!
- When: November 2nd, 2024.
- Where: Holy Cross Lutheran Church [Click here for the address]
- Why: Reuse, repurpose, recycle . . . and have a good time in the process.
- How much: No charge! Bring some cash, though, for the Sale of the Dead Games!

Nuke-Con 2024 is hosted in the ballrooms at the Mid-America Center at One Arena Way Council Bluffs, IA 51501. Parking Lot D is the closest to the south doors / convention center entrance.

Board of Directors
The time for voting is just a part of the season and to make sure your voices are heard we would like you to vote for Board of Directors. And if you have a recommendation we have a spot of the ballot to write in.
Voting will be held onsite during the convention only. There will be no absentee ballots. Each member is allowed to cast a vote. Your ballot can be picked up at the registration desk. Once you have filled in your ballot, please return to the registration desk to cast your vote.
To ensure a single vote per member, you will receive a sticker and then have your badge stamped.

Hello there. My name is David Moore. I best describe myself as an avid gamer and maker here in Omaha. I am also, as some of you know, the current president of the Omaha Beach Wargaming Club. I helped started the club to promote historical gaming to the public, but now I want to take that same spirit and bring it to Nuke-Con. I have been attending the con for a decade now and wish to provide my time to ensuring that Omaha has a gaming convention that will last decades more. I have felt in recent years that I should be giving back to this gaming community and I figured that this is the best way that I can do that. A vote for me is a vote for bigger, brighter future. Staffer Steve’s Refresher Reminder
Staffer Steve here,
I’ve noticed a trend at every Nuke-Con where there’s always a few people who’ve forgotten the rules for the game (or games) they’re hosting / running / demoing / playing / etc. at the con. Sometimes it’s a game they’ve played many times before, but it’s been a while and so they’re scrambling as they try to shoot through the rule book two minutes before game time as they’ve forgotten some or most of the rules.
Its okay, it happens. I’m not any throwing in this glass house, for I did it once (or maybe twice) myself.So this is my friendly “a few days before the con” reminder to spend a few minutes refreshing yourself with the rules of the games you plan to run. Even if you’re certain that you know the game inside and out, a confidence refresher never hurt anyone.
P.S. While you’re at it, it would also be a good time to look over the game contents and make sure you’ve got all the pieces. Sometimes pieces get moved around between games. Sometimes a core game piece gets put in an expansion box by mistake (this has happened to me before). In some cases, children just get curious and tool around your games when you’re not looking.
Stuff just happens sometimes so it’s a good habit to check your games ahead of time.

Meet the Vendors: Oakley’s Nerd Nook
At Oakley’s Nerd Nook, I make hand crafted, wooden gaming accessories. I have dice boxes in three different sizes, with the lid doubling as dice rolling trays. I also make dice towers in plinko style towers fronted with clear acrylic screen so you can see the dice as they pop. The boxes and towers work together with magnets, so if you have both a dice box and a dice tower you’ll have a system with a nice little catch tray at the bottom.
I have you covered for trading card games as well. I make card holding trays, commander stations, and deck boxes. The deck boxes can hold two separate commander decks (single or double sleeved). The sides of the boxes are removable so you can use the box as a library/graveyard divider, and on top of it all, the lid doubles as either a commander station, or a card holding tray.
Make sure to come and say hello, ask questions, pick stuff up and play with it and above all else, have a great time! -

El is a self-taught illustrator and crafter, supported by her husband and, occasionally, friends. With over 15 years of experience in various creative endeavors, we’re reaching for the stars with every event. Check out our booth for handmade dice, keychains, stickers, and more! We haven’t been on the convention scene long, but we’re determined to keep meeting gamers and fans where they’re at.

Featured Game: Mind’s Eye Theatre LARP
There’s roll-playing (you know, where the dice run the story) and then there’s role-playing. The ultimate in role-playing is the Live Action kind. The kind you’ll find with Omaha Underworld: Wild West.
Omaha Underworld is a local troupe looking to share this amazing hobby. No boffer swords here, this is a theatre LARP. No experience or dice necessary. Setting is The Old West, Omaha is a Boomtown and the supernatural werewolves and vampires of Omaha are meeting to parley. Costumes highly encouraged.
